Celebrity Dream Homes A house doesn't have to be large or decadent for it to become a home but for many celebrities this seems to be the dream.With an endless supply of cash, many rich and famous people indulge by purchasing their dream homes. The following is a list of some of the world's most expensive celebrity homes. While many of us are just happy to have a roof over our heads, these wealthy individuals won’t settle for less than private lakes and basketball courts. Celebrity Dream Homes 1)      Oprah Winfrey's Mansion  – What list wouldn't be complete with, arguably, the most successful woman in the world? The self-made billionaire purchased her $50 million home in 2001, which has everything from tennis courts to her own private lake. Located in Montecito California, this mansion has 6 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms and 10 fireplaces! 2)      George Clooney's Villa Oleanda  – They filmed part of Ocean's 12 at this beautiful house in Italy. Villa Oleanda was originally purchased by the actor in 2007 for 7 million euro and now is estimated to be worth 30 million euro, or roughly 40 million US dollars. If you can recall from the film, not only is it a gorgeous house, but it also sits right on Lake Como. 3)      50 Cent's House in Connecticut  – the rapper purchased his house for $10.9 million– a shrewd business deal considering the house originally was priced at $18.9 million. With plenty of land and a basketball court, it's a home any celebrity would enjoy, which is why it's not surprising that 50 bought the house from boxer Mike Tyson. The late Michael Jackson had everything in his 3000 acre Santa Barbara residence including a petting zoo and an amusement park. 5)      Bill Gates  – Supposedly worth around $135 million dollars, the Gates family home sits comfortably on a hill overlooking Lake Washington in Washington state. Guests wear pins that when entering a room adjust the temperature, music and lighting to their recorded preferences. No wonder they nicknamed the mansion Xanadu 2.0 I think that if I had more money I too would want to live in a house that I did find to be beautiful and comfortable. However, I’m not sure that I would ever buy houses so ill-sized. Does Oprah really need 14 bathrooms? Does George Clooney need a mansion that probably is empty for a lot of the year in Italy?
