Mel Gibson Settlement

Mel Gibson Settlement Controversial actor Mel Gibson was ordered by the court to pay his ex-girlfriend $750,000 in a custody settlement on Wednesday. In an attempt to end the fighting with Ex Oksana Grigrieva, which has been going on in court for over a year, Gibson has agreed to pay up. Superior Court Judge Peter Lichtman has been there for the entirety of the heated proceedings. As part of the agreement, Gibson will also have to provide the same amount of child support for their 2-year-old daughter as he does for his other 7 children. They will share joint custody of the girl, who will get the profits of the house Gibson bought for Grigorieva, when she’s 18. Mel Gibson Settlement The split was fairly publicized as Grigorieva recorded numerous incidents of Gibson’s abusive rants and claimed that the actor struck her in 2010. The racist, sexist and terrifying audio recordings were leaked to celebrity gossip site RadarOnline. In one particular recording, Grigorieva refers to a specific incident where Gibson struck her in the face. In response, Gibson claimed that she deserved it. Despite the publicized incidents of Gibson’s abusive tendencies, Grigorieva left the audio recordings out of the custody case. The Russian musician also thanked the judge and stated that she hoped her Ex’s career could resume. It’s an ugly story that is disheartening to many people. The court agreement also prevents either party from discussing their relationship in any form of media, and Grigorieva’s 3-part payments are dependent on respecting this agreement, so it’s most likely that more details won’t be revealed in the near future. Perhaps it’s for the best. In a case like this, especially when there’s a child involved, it’s really sad to hear stories of relationships gone terribly awry. Mel Gibson Settlement I respect Mel Gibson as an artist, but I find the evidence pointing to him being abusive as extremely disturbing. It never ceases to amaze me how much Hollywood can distort the way we perceive actors as people. For many movie junkies, like myself, it’s easy to get caught up their characters and overall portrayal on-screen as the perpetual hero. Once you learn that the face of William Wallace is actually that of a man tied up in many controversial, hateful incidents… well, it takes away some of the magic. But that’s the reality of it. In our celebrity obsessed culture it’s easy to slip into the mentality that these people are somehow different than the rest of us. It’s too easy to prescribe to the stars-are-above-us ideas that the industry constantly stuffs down our throats. The second we start regarding actors and actresses as ‘just people’, perhaps the better they will behave. Mel Gibson Settlement
